Verne passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Susan Robertson; his children, Sheri, Julie, Carolyn, Stephen, Katherine, and Michele; his eight grandchildren; brothers Bill and Tom; and his loyal dog, Jax.

Verne grew up in Palm Springs, California, and graduated from Palm Springs High School before proudly serving four years in the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Lake Champlain and USS Hornet during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Verne returned to Southern California, where he found great fulfillment working in the construction industry for 48 years. Verne will be remembered as the steadfast foundation of his family—always inspiring, supporting, and loving unconditionally. He gave generously of himself and consistently demonstrated integrity, strong moral character, and an unwavering work ethic. His love of books, warm sense of humor, and enjoyment of camping and quiet relaxation will live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew him. He was a great man who will never be forgotten.
