Virginia M. Wetli passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, in Des Moines, WA. She was 87 years old. 

Virginia was born in Toledo, Ohio, on September 28, 1937, to J. Walter and Kathryn Ardner. She graduated from Mary Manse College with a degree in Education and later earned her principal credentials in Washington State. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved boating, reading, traveling, and especially spending time with her many cherished friends. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School in Federal Way, WA, where she served as both teacher and principal. She made a lasting impact on countless children and forged lifelong friendships within the parish and school community. 

Virginia’s positive spirit, caring heart, and inclusive nature were constants in her life and left a profound impression on everyone she knew. Virginia and her beloved husband, Bob Wetli, shared 64 years of marriage and a beautiful life together. Remarkably, they passed away within six days of each other, reunited once again. Virginia is survived by her sister Judy Johnson; children Brad (Kaye), Becky (Lori), and David; grandchildren Jennifer (Ken) Sutton, Daniel, Emily; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial Mass for Bob and Virginia Wetli will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Federal Way, WA on June 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
