William “Lyall” Griffin passed away on his 65th birthday, August 5, 2023, only 38 days after being diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and lived most of his adult life in Georgia. He moved to St. Augustine, Florida in 2014, where he had hoped to retire.
Although he had an electronics degree from DeVry, his passion was landscaping and stonework. He happily worked in that field for 40 years. Lyall had a way of making everything he touched grow and thrive. He loved all dogs, riding his bicycles, collecting and trading guitars and Rory Gallagher’s music, among many other diverse interests.
Lyall is survived by his wife of 34 years, Yvonne and his sister, Jamie, her children and Yvonne’s immediate family. He also leaves behind his beloved doggies, Lapis & Zulie, and he is now somewhere in spirit with Jasper, Ellie, Unicoi, Lulu, Rory and Layla.
Lyall was a brave man that faced his illness with courage. His greatest legacy is his gift of love to his wife. Lyall’s spirit lives on in our hearts and memories and he will never be forgotten.
He is deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
“Someday I will soar
Where only eagles dare to fly.
My wings will span great distances
In a clear blue azure sky.
So high above this worldly place
That Heaven's doors I'll see.
And angel voices will start to carry me
Through Skies ringing with sweet melody”
