William Byron Price, "Bill" to most and "Will" to others, 82, of Englewood, Florida, died peacefully in the company of friends on July 12, 2024, at Aspire at Englewood in Englewood, Florida.
Bill was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 23, 1942 to Charles Milton Price and Anna Margaret (Owens) Price. He graduated from Columbus West High School in 1960 and attended Ohio State University where he earned a master's degree. He devoted his life to education working as a professor at East Washington State University in Spokane. Later he taught German at Columbus Academy. He understood and spoke the German language so well that people born and raised in Germany couldn't believe he was not a native-born German citizen. Bill enjoyed photography and spending time in nature. He could play the accordion much to the delight of his nieces and nephews when they were young.
Bill was preceded in death by his partner Mike Darrah, parents Anna Margaret and Charles Price, brother-in-law John Iles, sister-in-law Kristin (Armstrong) Price and nephew Christopher Paul Price.
Bill is survived by his brother Charles "Chuck" Price, sisters Barbara (Price) Iles and Kay Price, Mike's daughter Abby, Mike's son Zack, many nieces and nephews, and a very special caregiver and dear friend, Christine McDonald.
A private memorial service will be held on a beach in Florida that had special meaning for Bill and Mike.
